The march against drug and human trafficking was held successfully on Friday, 19th January 2018. The march had served the purpose for which it was intended, of bringing awareness, education and dialogue amongst the civil society, business, law enforcement agencies, NGOs and other organs of state regarding illegal activities including drug and human trafficking. Not a single incident of violence was recorded throughout the march which started at Rustenburg East, proceeded through Tlhabane and back to Rustenburg East.
In attendance was, inter alia, the Executive Mayor of Rustenburg Cllr Mpho Khunou, members of the mayoral committee, Councillors, Local Pastors Forum, Afri Forum, Bikers Against Drugs, and many other stakeholders, community in general and media houses.
This march coincides me with the successful Safe and Clean City Campaign which took place earlier in the day where illegal properties believed to be the haven of illegal activities including drug and human trafficking were demolished, notwithstanding closure of businesses that operate illegally in the city.
