The Municipality’s Local Economic Development (LED) directorate has been working with the City’s strategic partners, to substantially reduce the effects of Covid-19 in the City. Since the pronouncement by the President H.E Cyril Ramphosa, the directorate has been communicating with persons actively informed in the informal economy as well as active Small, Medium and Micro- Enterprises – SMME’s.

The directorate has been working closely with the national Department of Small Businesses to ensure that all Covid-19 intervention measures reach the targeted persons, in the sectors respectively. Consequently, residents are informed about the numerous on-going measures to assist entrepreneurs and persons active in the SMME and informal economy of the following interventions.

Absa eKasi Entrepreneurs Program

In partnership with Municipality and ABSA seeks to assist existing SMMEs that have been affected by the lockdown to be compliant and by guiding and assisting them in applying for various relief programs.
