Water Shortages

The Rustenburg Local Municipality is aware of water shortages in Bethanie, Barseba and Modikwe, and would like to inform the affected communities that we are working towards finding short, medium, and long term solution to address the ongoing problem.
In the interim water tankers will be dispatched to assist and the community is advised not to engage in illegal connections as this has a huge impact to the water supply.

Power Outage

The Rustenburg Local Municipality would like to notify residents of the current power outage in parts of Rustenburg.
The outage is due to a cable fault, affecting most parts of Cashan, Safari Tuin, Waterfall East, Protea Park, and parts of the Mall.
Technicians are currently on site working on the problem. Due to the extent of work, it is estimated that it will take about six hours to completely fix the problem and restore power supply.
Residents are therefore advised to exercise patience until the problem has been fully resolved.
NB: All electrical points should be considered live, as a result of this outage.

Meritorious Award Ceremony: Celebrating Outstanding Performance

The Rustenburg Local Municipality will be hosting the Meritorious Award Ceremony for outstanding performance in combating crime within Rustenburg by identified members of the South African Police Service (SAPA) and Public Safety teams, following their commitment in fighting crime including drug and human trafficking in the City and surrounding areas, notwithstanding other areas of performance.
The event includes detailed report presentation on the achievements over the past few months.
The theme is: “Maintain clean, green, safe and healthy municipal environment for all”.

Water Supply Interruption: An emergency shutdown

The Rustenburg Local Municipality would like to notify residents of Greater Boitekong areas about current water supply interruption. This is as a result of a pipe burst at the Boitekong Mall.
Affected areas include Ramochana, Sunrise Park, Boitekong, Seraleng, Pardekraal, Meriting and Sondela.
The shutdown is planned as follows:
Tuesday, 13th March 2018 from 08H00 to 16H00.

Planned water supply interruption

The Rustenburg Local Municipality would like to notify the community of Rustenburg of a planned water interruption scheduled as follows:
Date:       Wednesday, 07th March 2018
Duration: From 09H00 to 21H00
The interruption is due to the Magalies Water’s scheduled plant shutdown as part of its refurbishment program involving the replacement of old transformers. Magalies Water is the Rustenburg Local Municipality’s Water Services Provider.
The shutdown means that the Vaalkop Water Treatment Plant will not be running at full capacity during this period.
Affected areas include:
All Boitekong Extentions, Feedom Park Phases 1 and 2, Sondela, Seraleng, Sunrise Paardekraal, Million Dollar and Tlhabane Township.
Consumers are advised to use water sparingly during this period so as to prevent prolonged water supply interruptions.

Power Load Shedding

In the wake of the events that have been happening on the Electrical Network, the municipality has resolved that Eskom should commission the outstanding transformer No. 3, which has been out for refurbishment. This comes as a remedial action to the spurious outages that we have been experiencing.
After commissioning we will have the full complement of four (4) transformers, instead of three (3) that we had over the last few months. However, for transformer NO. 3 to be commissioned, Eskom must switch off transformer No. 4, meaning that we will be left with a capacity of 80MVA. The outage starts at 07H30 to 16H00 today.
The Electrical Department has scheduled the load shedding as follows:
From 09H00 to 11H00:
Affected areas will be as follows:
Cashan Extensions; Safari Tuin Extensions; and part of the Mall.
From 11H00 TO 13H00:
Affected areas include:
Cashan Extensions; Safari Tuin Extensions; Protea Park; R24 Road; part of the Mall; Rietvlei; Protea Park; Geelhout Park Ext 5.
From 13H00 to 15H00:
Affected areas include:
Geelhout Park Ext 4, 6, and 9; Rustenburg North; Tlhabane West; East End; Bodorp; Town Central from Taxi Rank
From 15H00 to 17H00:
Affected areas:
Bodorp (Partly); Town Central
From 17H00 to 19H00:
Affected areas:
Waterval East Extensions; Pretoria Road (R24); East End; Areas between Oliver Tambo and Zendeling Streets; Industrial Area East End.
