(PUBLIC ALERT)12th FEBRUARY 2018 ROAD CLOSURE IN AND AROUND THE RUSTENBURG MAGISTRATE COURT ON TUESDAY 13TH FEBRUARY 2018

Business owners, residents and potential shoppers in the CBD please be advised that the Rustenburg Public Safety and the SAPS in Rustenburg have been notified of planned disruptive actions ahead of the court appearance of the fourteen foreign nationals tomorrow morning in the Rustenburg Magistrates court.
Members of the public are notified that the following streets/intersections will subsequently be closed off:
·        Nelson Mandela and Thabo Mbeki
·        Nelson Mandela and Leyds
·        Nelson Mandela and Klopper
·        Oliver Tambo and Thabo Mbeki
·        Fatima Bahyat and Klopper
·        Fatima Bahyat and Leyds
Business owners are advised to monitor the situation for their own safety and the safety of their clients. The closure of shops and businesses are entirely at their own discretion.

Public Notice: Water Supply Interruption

Kindly note that Rand Water supply to all Boitekong extensions, Sondela, Freedom Park, Seraleng, Paarderkraal, Million Dollar and Sunrise Park is closed due Magalies Bospoort Reservoir levels that are low therefore the closing of the reservoir will allow the reservoir to fill up. The water supply will be reopened at 05:00am however the system will still have to recover and water supply should be restored by no later than 08:00am in all affected areas.

Please note that there is a pipe burst at 1 Pipit Ave. The following surrounding areas will experience no water, or low pressure for a duration of 3-4 hours. The affected areas are:

·        Spreeu Avenue
·        Fiskaal Avenue and
·        Kilkewyn Avenue.

Power Outage

The Rustenburg Local Municipality would like to notify residents of the current power outage in parts of Rustenburg.
The outage is due to a cable fault in three substations, affecting most parts of Zinniaville, Rustenburg East, and Ramochana.
Residents are therefore advised to exercise patience until the problem has been fully resolved.
NB: All electrical points should be considered live, as a result of this outage.

Message of condolences from the Rustenburg Local Municipality

The Rustenburg Local Municipality has noted with great sadness the unfortunate passing of one of our employees while on duty.

Mr Mogakolodi Segwele succumbed to his death while performing his duties as an electrician in the Electrical Unit.

The municipality will be working with the department of labour to ensure that the investigation into this matter is prioritised.

The Executive Mayor of Rustenburg Cllr Mpho Khunou and the municipal manager Ms Nqobile Sithole led teams from the institution to convey a message of condolences to the family in Meriting.

May his soul rest in peace.

The municipal offices will close at 12H00 on Friday, 22nd December 2017, and reopen on Wednesday, 27th December 2017 at 07H30 then close again on Friday, 29th December 2017 at 12H00.
Cashiers, Credit Control, and Enquiries will be open as follows:
  • Friday 22nd and 29th from 08H00 to 16H00
  • Saturday 23rd and 30th from 08H00 to 12H00
Official opening for 2018 will be 2nd January.

NOTICE TO RESIDENTS (Planned Power Outage in parts of Rustenburg)

Kindly be notified of the power outage that will be effected on Sunday, 26th November 2017, from 06H00.
The outage is due to repairs and refurbishment project that Eskom is currently undertaking at industries’ substation. The duration for the outage is estimated to be six (6) hours.
Areas that will be affected include Old Geelhout Park, Geelhout Park Extensions 4, 6, 9, Tlhabane West, Protea park, Rustenburg North, Donkerhoek, Rietvlei, Safarituin (Partly), Cashan Extensions (Partly), Protea Park, R24 Road Waterkloof Rural,

NOTICE TO RESIDENTS (Planned Electricity Outage on the R24)

Kindly be notified of the power outage that will be effected from Saturday, 11th November 2017 to Sunday, 12th November 2017, from 08H00 to 16H00.

The Rustenburg Local Municipality will be embarking on a tree pruning program on the Rural 11kV network in an effort to reduce the frequent outages in the affected areas. This will be an on-going exercise starting from Saturday 11th November 2017.

Saturday 11th November 2017

Electricity will be interrupted on the R24 road from KFC/Studio 6 robot, Pole J36A1 up to Savannah Falls including all plots.

Sunday 12th November 2017

Electricity to be interrupted from Elof Section Switch, Pine Inn Lodge including Nico Roux, Pole J75A10 to J75A55 including Oude Landgoed, up to J75M1 Hunter Rest.

However, the above schedule is dependent on weather conditions or any experience of mayor interruptions on the network.

NB: All electrical points should be considered live, as electricity may be restored earlier than the set time.
