The hand over of title deeds to residents of Tlhabane Township

The Mayor of Rustenburg Cllr Mpho Khunou and MEC for Corporative Governance, Human Settlements and Traditional Affairs Honorable Mothibedi Kegakilwe hand over title deeds in Tlhabane this afternoon.

The North West Housing Corporation is currently implementing a title deed restoration in collaboration with the National Department of Human Settlement. The aim of this project is to eradicate the current backlog in the transfer of Pre 1994 properties  into the names of the beneficiaries.

143 beneficiaries receive their title deeds at Tlhabane this afternoon.

Nelson Mandela Day

In commemoration of Nelson Mandela Day, amongst other activities that have taken place throughout the day involving the participation of the Executive Mayor Cllr Mpho Khunou, MMCs, Councillors, Directors and officials of Council, the Rustenburg Local Municipality supported H.F Tlou High School in Tlhabane township with environmental and waste education and awareness.

As a way of living the values of our Constitution that provides for all people to live in a clean and healthy environment, today’s activities have contributed positively in allowing public participation towards achieving some of the Nelson Mandela Goals.

Public Accounts Committee (MPAC) launches public participation program

The Rustenburg Local Municipality’s (RLM) Municipal Public Accounts Committee (MPAC) had yesterday officially launched the public participation program on the Annual Report 2017/2018 financial year.
In terms of the Municipal Finance Management Act (Act No. 56 of 2003, Section 127 (5), immediately after annual report is tabled in the Council in terms of subsection (2), the Accounting Officer of the Municipality (Municipal Manager) must:
  • In accordance with section 21A of the Municipal Systems Act make public the Annual Report; and (i) Invite the local community to submit representations in connection with the Annual report; and
  • Submit the annual report to the Auditor General, the relevant provincial treasury and the provincial department responsible for local government in the province. To that effect a series of meetings will be held in different identified wards of Rustenburg according to planned clusters, from Monday, 08thJuly 2019 (Already done yesterday) to 21stJuly 2019 (NB. Detailed public participation Schedule will be sent soon).
The purpose of these meetings is to obtain inputs from the public on the Annual Report 2017/2018.

Public Alert (New billing system effective 01stJuly 2019)

Residents are hereby notified that the Municipality has implemented a new billing system effective 01stJuly 2019. However, some system functions will only be operational from the 15thJuly 2019. This is due to opening balances migration process from the old system after completion of the June 2019 billing cycle.
System functions which will be will not be operational until the 15thof July 2019 include:
Accessibility of latest Clearances figures
Refunds on completed Property Transfers
Property Transfers
Corrections to accounts
Residents are advised that Clearance certificates for payments completed in the previous financial year will be issued.
