The public is advised to note that Brandsvlei system supplied by rand water is under tremendous constraint due to very high demand experienced in Rustenburg. The command reservoir Brandsvlei is currently at 2% and Rustenburg South Reservoir is currently at 32%.
This levels makes it difficult for RLM to feed their reservoirs. Emergency Restrictions will be implemented to raise the level of the reservoirs to be able to supply all reservoirs supplied from the above mentioned system. These restrictions include the mines; Anglo, Impala, Lonmin and Sibanye. All mining houses will restrict all supply and conserve water.
The following areas will experience low pressure to no water.
Cashan all extensions, Boschdal areas, Rustenburg CBD, Rustenburg East, Parts of Protea Park, Safari Gardens, Savannah falls, Hex River, Waterkloof. Restrictions will commence now until 5:00am tomorrow morning.
A scheduled restriction will start from 17:00pm every evening to 05:00am every morning up until the system recovers. We edge all consumers to use water sparingly and avoid watering their gardens.
