Attention to open trenches around the CBD area

There are number of trenches which were left open around the CBD area. Such open trenches are a serious concern for both the municipality and the community. Rustenburg Local Municipality has effectively from the previous week embarked on a programme to close those trenches, and the programme shall continue for the next 3 weeks.
The programme on Demand management will start Monday 12 and will run for 2 months in the CBD, Zinniaville and Rustenburg east. In order to release high pressures in the Cuckoo Road area, the municipality will install a 50mm Air Release Valve at the high point in Hoep-Hoep Road. This installation will be on an existing fire hydrant and will commence on Thursday 8 September 2016.
The municipality will further install a Pressure Release Valve on the 300mm bulk supply pipeline to this area to accommodate high pressure flows that could be caused by numerous reasons.  For this particular exercise a programme with accurate dates will be communicated since this would include excavation, shutdown and emptying of pipeline and backfilling.
The rustenburg local municipality apologised for the inconvenience caused.
